The newer estates on Salisbury's outer edges are a different story. Colorbond gutters, modern profiles, but the tree coverage is catching up as the suburbs mature. Valley areas on tiled roofs collect debris faster than most homeowners expect — tiles create natural channels where gum debris funnels down and jams at the valley flashing before it even reaches the gutter.

One thing that catches people off guard in Salisbury is downpipe blockages. Because the gutters fill gradually, debris compresses and pushes into the downpipe entry. By the time a heavy winter front rolls through — and we get some serious rainfall events in the June-July period — the water's got nowhere to go except over the edge or back under the roofline. Getting ahead of that before winter is the straightforward move.
